Percul Australia involvement in motor sports dates back to the 80’s
The company founder gathered a wealth of experience and knowledge as a driver and builder of racing vehicles.
 Piloting a RALT RT30 Formula two car, he appreciated the value of gathering data, such as lap times, chassis setup and driver feedback, for later evaluation in improving the overall team performance.
Back in the good old 80, 90’s The logging was done with a stopwatch, pen and paper and the drivers memory on the manner that the vehicle behaved.
Back then only Formula 1 enjoyed the emerging technology and sensor developments offering the gathering of both vehicle and driver performance with Telemetry and logging in real time, then the cost of this equipment was prohibitive for the Club Racer
In recent times, many electronic companies commenced manufacturing the type of equipment suited and in reach of the Club Racer making possible some of the things that Formula 1 teams had enjoyed without breaking the racing budget.
However some of these devices lacked reliability, and where limited in functionality.
Fortunately things have changed as electronics got smaller, smarter cheaper and more reliable, today we can gather data from both the chassis and what the driver is doing at any point along the circuit.
With our racing involvement, having experienced some of the offerings in the past by other manufacturers, reliability became a real issue, our search led us to a product that met our expectations, the Lapcom Data Logger, manufactured by, Percul Japan.
We now had equipment that provided data that was reliable and useful.
In 2003 we made a business decision to bring this range from Japan to Australia, selecting those products that in our view meet the criteria of value, functionality and reliability.
